Plant Science Data Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences

The Plant Science Data Center (PDC) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), led by IBCAS, was officially approved for establishment in September 2020.

Participating Institutions:

    -Kunming Institute of Botany, CAS

    -South China Botanical Garden, CAS

    -Wuhan Botanical Garden, CAS

    -Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, CAS

-Northwest Institute of Plateau Biology, CAS

    -Guangxi Institute of Botany, CAS

The Center is dedicated to advancing big-data-driven botanical research, biodiversity conservation, and the sustainable utilization of plant resources. It aims to develop a multi-dimensional, spatiotemporal big data platform covering plant species, vegetation ecology, and ex-situ conservation. By pioneering AI technologies for biodiversity protection, the Center strives to ensure biological resource security, support national forest and grassland management, and provide essential services for the development of the National Botanical Garden System.

Platform Development & Integration: The PDC platform provides a comprehensive spatiotemporal and full-life-cycle data ecosystem for plant sciences.
-Data Volume: 1.87 billion records aggregated from 200+ research and educational institutions.
-User Traffic: Over 200 million platform visits.
-AI Service: 275 million+ plant identifications completed via the "Hua Ban Lv" (FlowerMate) app.
