Biodiversity Science is the first nationwide academic journal in China that specifically addresses the issues of biodiversity and the only one that comprehensively reports the achievements in the field of biodiversity research, aiming to enhance information exchange between Chinese and international scholars. Its impact factor was 1.639 according to Chinese S & T Papers and Citation Reports 2007. It has been ranked as one of the leading scientific journals in the field of biology. In 2007, Biodiversity Science was rewarded one of "The Top 100 Outstanding Academic Journals of China" and is indexed or abstracted by Agriculture and Bioscience ( CAB) Abstracts, Biosis Previews, Chemical Abstracts, AJ VINITI (Russian), and Zoological Record Online (USA), in addition to 14 Chinese databases or abstracts.
