Beijing Forest Ecosystem Research Station, CAS (BFERS)   

Beijing Forest Ecosystem Research Station, CAS (BFERS) (Director: Prof. LIU Lingli), is a member station of CERN, established in 1990. It is located in Xiao Long Men National Forest Park of Mentougou District, Beijing (39°58'N, 115°26'E, 1100 m a.s.l.) and the vegetation here is warm temperate deciduous broad-leaved secondary forests. The BFERS conducts long-term field monitoring and scientific research, including forest ecosystem structure and function, biodiversity conservation, global change, plantation ecosystem management, and montane ecosystem restoration. Currently, the BFERS has one 20-ha forest permanent plot, one 5-ha forest permanent plot, ten CERN long-term field plots, and more than 60 experimental instruments. The station headquarter can accommodate nearly 70 visitors and researchers.
