General Information of the Training Course
ITC-LTEM and the workshop are important issues of the International Science and Technology Cooperation Projects “Technical cooperation on ecosystem monitoring and adaptive management in typical areas of the Nile Basin” hosted by Prof. WU Dongxiu.
ITC-LTEM will focus on the theory and technology of long-term ecosystem monitoring with the objectives to stimulate the construction of ecosystem long-term monitoring network and to enhance vegetation conservation in the Nile Basin. The participants are from African countries along Nile Basin, Tanzania, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Sudan etc., which represent the different regions of the Nile Basin.
The workshop will communicate on cooperation demands and finished or ongoing cooperation research cases between China and Africa in resource and environment field.
Theme and Topics
The topics are as following:
l The importance and progress of long-term ecosystem monitoring
l Long-term monitoring practice of ecosystems in China
l New technology in ecosystem monitoring and research
l Field visit to 1~2 field research stations
Additionally, famous professors and senior experts with high prestige are invited to give scientific presentations. Some culture courses and culture trips will be scheduled during the program.

Beijing Urban Ecosystem Research Station in Haidian and Changping District of Beijing
Holding Place Attractions
The training course will be mainly held in Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the accommodation is Fragrant Hill Empark Hotel. Both the Institute and the hotel are located on the foot of the Fragrant Hills, a famous scenic spot of Beijing. Beijing Botanical Garden is in the neighborhood. Also, the Institute is not far away with some famous places of interest, such as The Summer Palace and Yuanmingyuan Park.
Weather (average maximum/minimum temperature during the training course)
Beijing: 25 ℃/15 ℃
Expenses
The expenses of round-trip international flight tickets, accommodation, transportation and food arranged by organizer during the training courses will be covered. However, the cost will not be covered as follows: passport and visa fees (including third countries visa), overweight of baggage during domestic and international journeys and cancellation of installment due to passenger reasons, other costs out of the organizer’s arrangements (e.g. telecommunications, personal transportation, entertainment, glasses, teeth glinting, beauty and salon/barber, laundry and all kinds of examination, treatment of chronic diseases, and medical expenses, etc.), also, costs ahead or postponed of schedule due to personal reasons.
