In celebration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France, during the visit of President Xi Jinping to France, the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People′s Republic of China and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research of French co-hosted the Sino-French Science and Technology Cooperation Achievements Exhibition in Paris, France on May 6-7.
The exhibition systematically reviewed the history of Sino-French cooperation since diplomatic relations began, especially since the signing of the intergovernmental science and technology cooperation agreement in 1978, highlighting the development outcomes of key cooperation mechanisms such as personnel exchanges and platform construction, as well as cooperation achievements in key areas including aerospace, basic research, agriculture and food, energy and environment, and biomedicine.
The Institute of Botany at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the French National Institute for Agriculture, Food and Environment Research (INRAE), Bordeaux University, and Bordeaux Science Agro have conducted long-term fruitful research cooperation in the field of grapes and wine. They have jointly analyzed the origins and domestication of grapes, developed efficient breeding technologies, and established precise evaluation and prediction platforms for the impact of climate change on grape production. These achievements, as one of the significant outcomes of Sino-French scientific and technological cooperation, were showcased at this exhibition.
