The workshop on development of grass-based livestock husbandry was jointly organized by the Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IBCAS) and AgResearch. The meeting was held in Beijing from November 5 to 6, more than 30 participants from AgResearch, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), Chinese Agricultural University (CAU) and LanZhou Univeristy (LZU) attended the meeting.
Professor Hai-Chun Jing, as the chairman of the conference, gave a brief overview of CAS Agriculture programme and Jolon Dyer gave an overview of AgResearch at the opening ceremony. The conference focused on three topics, including “Forage/Plant/Germplasm/Endophytes”, “Animal Science - from feed to meat quality” and “Meat quality and by-product processing”. 15 scientists from 10 institutes and universities gave presentations on three topics, separately.
The participating scientists exchanged views on the frontiers of science and technology on three topics and discussed future collaboration on forage supply, rumen microbial and animal nutrition, mutton quality and by-products processing. The meeting laid the foundation of cooperation between CAS and AgResearch.
