The 13th International Meeting on Biosynthesis, Function and Synthetic Biology of Isoprenoids (TERPNET2017) was held in Dalian International Conference Center on 16-20 July 2017. This meeting was organized by Chinese Society for Plant Biology, Institute of Botany, CAS, Shanghai Society for Plant Biology, co-organized by Shanghai Chenshan Plant Science Research Center, Molecular Plant, Shanghai Key Lab of Protected Horticultural Technology, SAAS, and the local organizers were Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, CAS and Dalian Polytechnic University. Over 350 scientists from different countries participated the meeting and shared scientific stories and thoughts in the fields of Biosynthesis and transport of terpenoids, Regulation of terpenoid metabolism, Terpenoid synthesis and chemistry Terpenoids in plant development and crop traits, Terpenoids and human health, Terpenoids: ecology and evolution, Systems and synthetic biology of terpenoids, and Industrial biotechnology of terpenoids.
This meeting was hosted by Xiaoquan Qi, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Professor of Institute of Botany, CAS. Joe Chappell, member of the Executive Council, Professor from University of Kentucky, USA, gave the opening address at the meeting, introduced the history of TERPNET and pointed out that this meeting was the most influential Conference on terpenoids. A total of 128 abstracts and 84 posters were received by this meeting. This meeting showed the the outstanding progress in international terpenoids and promoted the exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign experts.
Xiaoya Chen, Chairman of Chinese Society for Plant Biology, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences from Institute of Plant Physiology & Ecology, SIBS, CAS, delivered a closing address. He fully affirmed the results of the meeting, pointed out that the meeting covered the newest progresses of terpenoids researches, and expressed his sincere thanks to the organizers and volunteers.
This is the first time for the TERPNET conference hold in China. The 14th TERPNET meeting will be held in June, 2019 in Halle, Germany.
