Dr. Xiao-Quan Wang, the principal investigator from Institute of Botany , Chinese Academy of Sciences (IB-CAS), was appointed as an editor of Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution (MPE) on Dec.4, 2013.
Dr. Wang is the director of the State Key Laboratory of Systematic and Evolutionary Botany, IB-CAS. He got his PhD degree from IB-CAS in 1997. His main research interests include evolution and biogeography of gymnosperms, speciation and phylogeography of plants in the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, and evolution of plant gene families. He published over 30 papers in international famous journals, such as Mol. Biol. Evol., Mol. Ecol., Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., J. Mol. Evol., and Ann. Bot.
Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution is dedicated to bringing Darwin 's dream within grasp - to "have fairly true genealogical trees of each great kingdom of Nature ." The journal provides a forum for molecular studies that advance our understanding of phylogeny and evolution, further the development of phylogenetically more accurate taxonomic classifications, and ultimately bring a unified classification for all the ramifying lines of life.
