The PhD Summer School on Sustainable Bioenergy 2013 was held at Institute of Botany on Sept.9-12. It was jointly organized by Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IB-CAS), University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) and Sino-Danish Center for Education and Research (SDC). Prof. Hai-chun Jing from IB-CAS and Prof. Søren K. Rasmussen from University of Copenhagen are the co-chairs. There are totally more than 40 students attending this program.
The program has three major themes: lignocellulosic material, sugars materials and plant oil for biodiesel. There is also a field excursion after the training course. Professors from Institute of Botany, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University and University of Denmark were invited to give lectures to the PhD students on these three topics.
The four-day course provides students with rich knowledge on sustainable bioenergy material, biorefinery, conversion and its application. It is also a good opportunity for Chinese students to have face-to-face exchange with experts and students from Denmark.
