Prof. Yibo Luo, faculty of the State Key Laboratory of Systematic and Evolutionary Botany, Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has been nominated as the trustee of the new trust of Asia Pacific Orchid Conference (APOC) during the meeting of the 8th Asia Pacific Orchid Conference Trust on Feb. 3th, 2013.
The objectives of Asia Pacific Orchid Conference Trust are to promote awareness and development of the hybridization, cultivation, and conservation of orchids and to support research in these fields. The Trust applies especially to countries and territories in the Asia Pacific Region. The new trust includes six trustees from China, Indonesian, Japan and Singapore.
The main research interest of Prof. Luo is the pollination, evolution and conservation biology of orchids. He has published more than 90 peer-reviewed papers, 37 popular science articles and ten books on different topics of orchids.
