Institute of Botany held The 3rd Sino-Indian International Conference

The 3rd Sino-Indian International Conference of Biodiversity and Environmental Changes in the Himalayas was held in Xinxiang, Henan on Sept. 18-20, 2012. This conference was co-hosted by Institute of Botany,Institute of Earth Environment, and Henan Normal University, etc. There are fourteen scientists from India, UK, America, and about 60 participants from 15 domestic institutions attended the conference.

The opening ceremony of the conference was chaired by Prof. Cheng-Sen Li from Institute of Botany. Proceed the ceremony, 20 participants presented their lectures. The main topics include: 1) speciation and biodiversity in Himalayas, 2) the origin and evolution of some important plant groups in Himalayas, 3) vegetation succession and environmental changes in Sino-India during the Cenozoic, 4) the influence on Asia and global changes by the uplift of Himalayas, 5) cosmogenic nuclides as tracer and the dating technology, 6) application of stable isotope in the study of the uplift of Tibetan Plateau, 7) the plateau geomorphology and its foreland basin stratigraphy.

The Sino-Indian International Conference is a series international conference. The 1st and 2nd Sino-Indian bilateral symposiums were  held in Sanya (China) and Lucknow (India) in 2007 and 2008 respectively, under the financial supports of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Indian National Science Academy, and Department of Science and Technology (India).
