On Apr.11, a delegation led by Dr. Ghulam Abbas Miana Secretary of Pakistan Academy of Sciences (PAS) visited Institute of Botany (IB). Dr. ZHANG Lixin, Deputy Director of IB met with them. Dr. Dr. M. Aslam Baig and Dr. Dr. M. Ashraf, academicians of PAS, together with Dr. ZHANG Xianchun and Dr. LENG Jing from IBCAS were present at the meeting.

Dr. ZHANG Lixin extended a warm welcome to the delegation, and gave a brief introduction on the history, people and researches of IB. Dr. ZHANG Xianchun introduced to guests on the compilation of “Flora of Pan-Himalaya” project. Dr. Ghulam Abbas Miana expressed thanks to IB’s reception, and introduced the PAS briefly. The two sides agreed that they will further promote the collaboration in systematic and evolutionary Botany, plant molecular biology, photosynthesis and so on. After the meeting, the guests were showed around the Herbarium and the Peony Garden of IBCAS.

Pakistan Academy of Sciences is an academic organization for consultation with highest honor. It was founded in 1953. It provides consultation to Pakistan government on technology development and science education. It also publishes academic journals, holds academic conferences, sponsors research projects and awards scientific medals.
