Nov.12- Foreign Secretary and Vice-President of the Royal Society, Emeritus Professor of Fungal Genetics in the Department of plant Sciences at the University of Oxford, Dr. Lorna Casselton visited Institute of Botany (IOB), Chinese Academy of Sciences.
At the discussion meeting, Director of IOB, Prof. Ma Ke-Ping gave a brief introduction of IOB. Dr. Casselton thanks for that and asked about research on fungi and transgenic crop in IOB. She put forward a suggestion that considering there are many common concern problems confronting scientists all over the world, such as global warming and decreasing of biodiversity, more cooperation should be promoted to solve that problem. Prof. Ma agreed with her and hoped both sides would find more opportunities to collaborate with each other not only on research project but also on education.
Dr. Casselton visited PE after meeting and give high praise for the quantity and quality of the specimen's collection and virtual herbarium.
Prof. Liu Chun-Ming, Prof. Li Cheng-Sen, Prof. Sang Wei-Guo, associate professor Liu Mei-Zhen participated the meeting.
