The opening ceremony of " International Training Course on Long-term Monitoring of Ecological Environment and Management of Field Research Station " was held in IOB on Aug. 21. This training course was sponsored by IOB secondly, funded by the Ministry of Commerce of the P.R.C. Twelve students from 5 Asian and African developing countries entered for this training course.
This training course compounds the indoor lectures and fieldwork practices. It will focus on the technology of long-term ecosystem monitoring and management of field research stations as following:
1) The importance of long-term ecosystem monitoring and the principle of field research stations establishment and management
2) Programming and construction of long-term monitoring network, taking CERN and NEORN for examples,
3) Contents and methods of long-term monitoring in terrestrial ecosystems and aquatic ecosystems
4) Field visiting in typical field research stations
For promoting the comprehensions on ecosystem research and understanding of Chinese situations and cultures, famous professors and senior experts with high prestige will be invited to give scientific presentations. Additionally, some culture courses and culture trips will scheduled during the program.
Most of the lectures will be given in Beijing. Combining with this training, participants will be invited to visit several research stations in Beijing and Inner Mongolia.
