A CAS delegation led by Prof. Lu Yongxiang is in Germany for festivities marking the 30th anniversary of S&T cooperation between the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science. The event was started by a forum on Sino-German S&T cooperation held on Nov. 8 in Berlin. More than 300 scientists, government officials and entrepreneurs witnessing the event, including CAS President Lu Yongxiang, former CAS President Zhou Guangzhao, MPG President Peter Gruss, State Secretary of German Ministry of Education and Research Wolf-Dieter Dudenhausen and former MPG President Reimar Luest. At the forum, Prof. Lu Yongxiang delivered a speech on the strategic forecast of China's S&T development. He also signed an agreement on the establishment of an MPG/CAS Partner Institute for Computational Biology together with MPG President Peter Gruss. On Nov. 9, Vice-president of the German Bundestag Hermann Otto Solms and Chinese Ambassador to Germany Ma Canrong gave separate receptions to Prof. Lu Yongxiang and his delegation.
