
Entrusted by Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China, organized by Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Science, International Training Course on Long-term Monitoring of Ecological Environment and Management of Field Research Station (ITCLMEEMFRS) was held in Beijing from August 21 to September 17, 2009. Twelve participators in the field of ecological and environmental monitory, biodiversity conservation came from six African and Asian countries attended the training course.
Training courses focused on the technology of long-term ecosystem monitoring and management of field research stations as following:
The importance of long-term ecosystem monitoring and the principle of field research stations establishment and management.
Programming and construction of long-term monitoring network, taking Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN) and Chinese National Ecosystem Observation and Research Network (CEORN) for examples,
Contents and methods of long-term monitoring in terrestrial ecosystems and aquatic ecosystems
Teaching and discussion combined with field work were used in training course. For promoting the comprehensions on ecosystem research and understanding of Chinese situations and cultures, famous professors and senior experts with high prestige were invited to give the lectures mentioned above. Additionally, some culture courses and culture trips scheduled during the program. Participants were invited to visit three typical field research stations in Beijing and Inner Mongolia and some modern farms near Beijing to better understanding training course.
