History
Since its founding in 1928, IBCAS has a history of nearly a century. Amid historical changes, the following milestones stand out.

All staff of Fan Memorial Institute of Botany established in 1928 in Beiping. Bing Zhi and Hu Xiansu, the first and second director of the institution, sit in the middle of the front row.

Laiyuan Building in 1929. the main building of The Botanical Institute of Beiping Academy of Sciences, located in 137, XizhimenwaI Street, Beijing.

3 Wenjin Street, Beijing. Fan Memorial Institute of Botany is located there from Apr. 1931 to the end of 1949.

The building of Lumoketang, built to memorialize a French biologist, located in 137, XizhimenwaI Street, Beijing. The Botanical Institute of Beiping Academy of Sciences moved there in 1933.

No. 141, Xizhimenwai Street, Beijing. The IBCAS moved there in 1949.
No. 20 Nanxincun, Xiangshan, Beijing, current address of IBCAS, where the botany garden of IBCAS has been located since 1954. All of IBCAS moved at the end of 1995.

In 2022, the first China National Botanical Garden, jointly established by IBCAS and Beijing Botanical Garden, was officially inaugurated in Beijing.
